The Sanitation Manager is responsible for overall sanitation of this production facility.

This Sanitation Leader assures the facility has a well-trained, efficient and accountable in-house sanitation crew and assures the sanitation levels meet expectations to produce a safe, high quality product. The Sanitation Manager is responsible for the coordination and follow-up of our internal audit program.

You must have a general understanding of plant operations; clean-up procedures; waste disposal; scheduling; managing sanitary operations; pest control; sanitation chemicals; knowledge of GMP’s; familiarity with Federal and State requirements including FDA & USDA; and a working knowledge of Quality Assurance Standards, SQF (preferred) and some microbiological knowledge.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field is preferred
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in managing or supervising sanitation teams
  • Ability to identify improvement opportunities in the cleaning processes
  • Working knowledge of Six Step Cleaning Process

The Job:
  • Manage Sanitation Supervisors, and oversee supervision of hourly sanitation staff.
  • Coordinate and implement all sanitation operations in the plant and supervise all sanitation control measures.
  • Manage PCO relationship and follow up on Corrective Actions & audit PCO monthly for accuracy in reporting.
  • Manage the sanitation budget and maintain sanitation supplies.
  • Assist Quality Assurance manager with budget projections for the sanitation department, projects and capital improvement processes.
  • Coordinate and administer training for the sanitation department and other departments as needed, ensuring all required training is complete.
  • Assure maintenance of master sanitation schedule.
  • Verify pre-operational inspections and ATP swabbing, and maintain documentation and corrective action measures pertaining to any failures for both are completed.
  • Develop and maintain SSOPs for all sanitation/cleaning functions, equipment and areas of the plant.
  • Assure compliance to Corporate Sanitation programs.
  • Work directly with the 3rd party sanitation chemical representative and contracted sanitation representative.
  • Develop and maintain a succession plan for key positions within the sanitation operations.
  • Coordinate and maintain monthly plant internal audits. Lead corrective action efforts and track corrective action log for closure. Facilitate corrective action meetings pertaining to the internal audit.
  • Assist with 3rd-party audits, regulatory inspections, and corporate audits, and lead any sanitation-related audits.
