The EHS Manager directs the development, implementation and maintenance of comprehensive EHS management systems for the facility.  This leader provides mentoring and technical expertise to achieve goals for EHS and Sustainability and ensures compliance with all applicable EHS policies and regulations.  

If you are an EHS professional who possesses the technical knowledge of Manufacturing Safety Programs (OSHA 18001, ISO 14001) Environmental safety (air pollution, wastewater), and have a command of applicable Regulatory issues - we are interested in you!

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

* 15+ years of experience in working in Environmental, Health and Safety in a manufacturing plant
* Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, Sciences, or other closely related discipline.
* 15+ years of Process Safety Management experience
* Training experience with above average oral & written communication skills.
* Above average Leadership skills.

 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide leadership, guidance and mentoring to the site that is necessary to create a proactive culture of risk management.
  • Capability of identifying and managing EHS risks to prevent incidents.  This may involve working in confined spaces and in high places.
  • The EHS Manager must be able to handle crisis situations professionally
  • Develops, implements and manages systems and programs to ensure site is in compliance with applicable EHS regulations and requirements.
  • Analyzes site consumption of natural resources and utilities, generation of waste, and the real and potential impact of site operations on the local community and environment to develop, implement and manage a strategic plan to improve the operational sustainability of the site
  • Provides training and mentoring to site supervisors and management personnel to lead proactive safety efforts in their area of responsibility.
  • Be the technical expert and have understanding of all relevant EHS and Sustainability issues as necessary
  • Ensures accurate and timely EHS recordkeeping and document management including the submission of periodic reports to regulatory agencies.
  • Interface with regulatory and public sector EHS authorities as appropriate.
  • Reviews actual and proposed uses of chemicals for EHS implications, including regulatory applicability and worker safety, ensures compliance with their use and manages Safety Data Sheet (SDS) availability for those chemicals.
  • Manages the facility Process Safety Management (PSM) program for ammonia refrigeration.
  • Participate in EHS audits, Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) and other elements of the PSM program integral to site EHS performance.
  • Participate in annual budget development process with respective facility managers and corporate managers.
