Senior Project/Cost Accountant - Construction - Boston

Assist with the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes, including the preparation of journal entries and reconciliations, the preparation, analysis, and distribution of financial statements. Assist with Banking activities like setting up new accounts, adding new signatures, bank reconciling items, banking fees, positive pay exceptions, etc. Ensure that all deliverables comply with regulatory guidance and professional standards. Provide assistance to the Accounting Manager with external audit and annual tax compliance. Assist with special projects assigned by management.
Project accounting duties:

  • Track direct project costs on a daily, weekly or monthly basis
  • Allocate indirect costs (overhead) to projects on a monthly basis
  • Allocate labor costs to projects utilizing timesheet entries each pay period
  • Assist project manager in creating a project budget with project/job cost codes based on work breakdown structure
  • Reforecast project costs with project manager on a daily, weekly or monthly basis
  • Create management reports to assess financial health of project, to include actual costs incurred, future costs to bed incurred, and total estimated project costs as compared to budget. Present to project team in weekly meetings.
  • Assist project team members in creating purchase orders, reviewing terms and conditions, ensuring appropriate insurance certificates are requested and received, and ensuring appropriate lien administration.
  • Track lien releases, process accounts payable and cut checks to vendors.

GAAP accounting duties:

  • GAAP Percentage of Completion accounting for construction projects on a monthly basis
  • GAAP monthly close for multiple entities to include amortization, depreciation, revenue recognition, accruals, equity roll, etc.
  • Prepare GAAP financials to include balance sheet, income statement, direct cash flow statement, indirect cash flow statement, statement of equity on a monthly basis.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis.
  • Prepare management reporting on GAAP financials and brief executive management team.
  • Prepare PBC (prepared by client) schedules for annual audit by outside audit firm, to include intercompany elimination entries, full financial reports and footnotes.
  • With business partner, create budgets on an annual basis (income statement) and individually prepare associated balance sheet forecast.
  • Bachelors of Science in Accounting or equivalent from an accredited university.
  • Four to six years progressively responsible experience in accounting (energy or construction industry highly desirable).
