Responsible for planning and coordinating the development and commercial efforts of Pet products, collaborating on marketing strategies to include the development of sales, and promotional campaigns for new and existing Pet product lines in retail stores. This position reports to the Vice President of Consumer Sales.



    • Identifies changes in the market and evaluates, adjusts, the sales and promotional plan accordingly, providing feedback for changes to marketing plans.

    • Coordinates the planning, management and alignment of sales, with marketing and promotional campaigns for the retail market.

    • Evaluates the competitive landscape and identifies opportunities for new product introductions and channel strategy adjustments

    • Works closely with Product Development, Marketing and Sales teams to drive commercialization of new Pet Over The Counter (OTC) products

    • Coordinates timing between new product introductions and strategic placement in the retail market

    • Identifies/ Develops/Executes:

      • Strategic marketing plans across all channels to support annual sales goals

      • Marketing programs and components needed to support sales plan

      • The goals and objectives for sales and marketing programs that drive retail pet growth

    • Develops a keen understanding of Nielsen, IRI, Focus Technologies and other sales data sources to identify new business opportunities or adjust strategic plans

    • Leads the Sales and Marketing Teams in developing the annual sales plan and promotional budget aligning the organizational strategy and objectives for the OTC Pet.

    • Establishes the Pet OTC forecast for new products and oversees existing forecast to gauge accuracy and direct adjustments as needed.

    • Initiates the drafting or review of agreements and contracts with Legal Department via coordination with supervisor as needed.

    • Develops positive customer and vendor relationships through communication and customer visits in conjunction with sales.

    • Communicates key account sales updates on a monthly basis

    • Presents status update on overall Pet retail business to executive management on a quarterly basis.

    • Collaborates with Sales and Marketing on the best use of promotional funding to grow in-store sales (advertising, specials, displays, coupons, etc.)

    • Helps plan and manage promotions and quarterly specials for OTC Pet/Dealer market.

    • Attends appropriate conventions and seminars.

      Education & Experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications or related discipline with 10 years of Overt The Counter (OTC) Sales experience, marketing experience beneficial

    • Experience in animal health industry desired. International marketing experience a PLUS

    • Must be familiar with retail promotional activity, advertising campaigns and marketing strategies on a national, regional and local level

    • Ability to work in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment and be self-directed

    • Skilled at identifying/developing new business opportunities

    • Strong organizational skills along with excellent oral and written communication ability a must

    • Must be highly organized, and able to work well with other departments at all levels within the organization

    • Good presentation skills and comfortable speaking in front of a group

    • Understanding of layout, copy development, and design recommended

    • Comfortable working within a commissioned compensation opportunity

    • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and Windows-based computer applications required including syndicated data review/management.
