Expanding southern CA supermarket chain with 50 locations and 7,100 employees, catering mainly to the growing Latino population.  Expansion plans continue as its reputation of service and excellence.

The Specialist will be responsible for ensuring that food product labels are in compliance with company policy, local, state and federal regulations; FDA, FSMA and USDA.  

Develop, validate, and maintain food and dietary product label and serve as the company expert on product labeling and compliance regulatory directives on nutrition and ingredients.
Manage all phases of the label change process, updating food labeling policies, procedures, document preparation, product specifications, approval notification, record retention and correspondence.

Develop internal processes to control labeling, packaging design, product artwork, graphics and text.  

Lead the development of training on nutrition labeling and regulatory that may impact the organization.

Maintain the company’s ingredient nutrition information database.

Work with the Marketing, Procurement, Operations and Store Department Management Teams and vendors to collect the information to attain labeling accuracy.

Respond to inquiries related to nutrition, ingredients, labeling or packaging.

BS in Food Science, Nutrition or related.

5+ years’ in food product labeling for compliance with USDA, FDA regulations, specifications and labeling databases.
